Google Trend Analysis for SPM Physics Topics Statistics

Based on Google Trend analysis, students and teachers normally search for SPM Physics topics during the end of the year for the past 5 years.

We can see the chart below that basically there will be a spike of search during the end of Nov and early December.

Maybe people only start to research for SPM Notes and Exam Questions during this month.

And we can see that Sarawak students are more active, followed by Selangor, Perak, Johor and KL.

Tips to Score Well in SPM Physics

1. Practice, practice and practice.

Practice everyday. Make sure you plan a schedule of your practice.
Since you will be taking many subjects for SPM (usually 10 subjects), it is good that you have a scheduled timetable for all the subject.

Example:
Monday: Physics
Tuesday: Biology
Wednesday: Chemistry
Thursday: BM & BI
Friday: History
Saturday: Pendidikan Moral

2. Always ask the question immediately once you have doubt during lecture.

If you do not ask, you may be confused for the rest of the explanation.
By then, you will be lost already.
So ask early.
Ask your teacher or your friends.

3. Practice during in between classes.

Many students always complained that they do not have enough time in a day to do revision.
What I suggest is to use the in-between time to do your revision.
Example, during class break, during recess, when you are waiting for bus/LRT, during toilet break.
When I watch TV, i always do a quick revision during the commercial  even for 5 min.
Do not underestimate all this short revision time.
Sometimes it is more powerful.

4. Do all the past year exam questions.

Get familiar with the format.
By scoring well in the past year, it will also hep to boost your confident as well.

You can also get a list of real past year SPM Physics Exam Papers here:
SPM Physics Exam Papers

5. Eat well.

Make sure you are eating well.
Get nutritious food that will help your brain power and to make sure you stay alert.

6. Sleep well.

Having not enough sleep will make you not able to concentrate well in class.
This is not helpful.
Make sure you sleep early before exam, so that your mind is refresh.
Always avoid last min preparation.

But do not sleep in class ok 😅

7. Exercise

You will realize that doing regular exercise will actually help your overall wellbeing, make your brain more active and help in your memory as well.
Do regular exercise or sports at least once per week.
It will release stress and refreshes you.

8. Prepare your own notes.

Notes from the textbook are sometime to heavy for final revision.
If you have your own notes, it will speed up your revision.

9. Teach others.

This is one of the most effective ways to learn.
When you are planning to teach, it will help you to organize your understanding and thought better.
Studies have shown that students that teach others are doing way better in their exam.
Share to others how you understand a particular topic will actually enforce that understanding.
It will improve your memory for that topics as well.

10. Organize a group discussion

Start a small group of maybe 5 people.
Each person can share a chapter to each other.
Take turn to do this with other subjects.
Teach each other how to do well in each topics.
Share how you remember and understand the concept.
Very soon all of you will be better.

11. Relate what you learn in your daily life.

If you can connect what you just learn in your daily life, it will help you to appreciate and understand it better.

For example, observe how inertia operates when you sit in a car. Notice how it affects the movement of the car.

When you are on the highway, notice the speed between a lorry and a small car, like Perodua Viva.

The next time you see an accident, how do you relate it to force and momentum?

Look at the tyre, how does it related to friction.

When you approach a car, notice how the engine is having heat around it.

The next time you turn on your room lights, notice how bright it is.

If you are wearing a spectacle, notice how thick is the lenses. Why is it so thin/thick?

By doing all this observations, it will trigger your brain to link the topics that you have studied before and if you can find the answers to it, you will be much better at it.

12. Understand concept, not just memorize the definitions and formulas.

Once you understand the concept, the definition and formula will eventually make sense.
Then it will be much easier to get the idea.
Do this for physics, maths, chemistry and biology as well.

Don't try to cramp your brain with so much information through memory only.
Seek understanding, not just memorizing.

All the best for your SPM Physics 🙌😉💪

SPM PHYSICS FORM 4 CHAPTER 2: Acceleration vs Time Graph

This is a very important graph.

We can get a lot of info from this graph.

We can get the velocity from the area under the a-t graph.

Formula:
Velocity = Area under a-t graph

Check out this video to see the explanation:

Reminder:
Acceleration is a vector quantity.
So you need to know both the direction and the magnitude.

SPM PHYSICS FORM 4 CHAPTER 2: Measuring Distance using the Velocity vs Time Graph

Besides using the formula, we can also use the Velocity vs Time Graph to measure the distance traveled.
The advantage of using Velocity vs Time Graph is that it is very visual. You can look at the picture of the graph and calculate accordingly.

Formula:
Basically Distance Traveled = Area under the v-t Graph.

Check out this video to see the explanation:

Extra Tips: This topic always come out in SPM Physics Paper 2 and Paper 3. It will requires you to draw the graph, and then measures the distance traveled.

You will realize that this topic is also applicable for SPM Additional Maths as well.

SPM PHYSICS FORM 4 CHAPTER 2: Acceleration

Calculating the acceleration of a car.

This topic is probably one of the most important topic in physics.

Acceleration is defined as change of velocity over time.

Basically it measures how the velocity is changing for every second.

If positive acceleration, then the velocity is increasing. The the speed is going faster.
If negative acceleration, also called deceleration, then the velocity is decreasing. So the speed is becoming slower.
If zero acceleration, there are 2 possible scenarios.
a) No speed/velocity. Meaning that the object is not moving.
b) Constant velocity. Meaning the object is having the similar speed.

Formula:
a = v / t
unit = meter / second^2 or m/s^2

Note: v = velocity, t = time

Acceleration is a vector quantity.
So you need to know both the direction and the magnitude.

Check out this video to see the explanation:

You will realize that this topic is also applicable for SPM Additional Maths as well.

SPM PHYSICS FORM 4 CHAPTER 2: Position-time graphs for Displacement vs Time

Position-time graphs.

Using position-time graphs and number lines to find displacement and distance traveled.

This is also very important for SPM Physics Paper 2 and Paper 3 as well. Make sure you master this topic.

Check out this video to see the explanation:

You will realize that this topic is also applicable for SPM Additional Maths as well.

You can get your SPM Physics Notes for Form 4 Chapter 2 here:

SPM PHYSICS FORM 4 CHAPTER 2: What is the difference between Distance and Displacement?

An introduction to the difference between distance traveled and displacement.

What is the difference between Distance and Displacement?

Distance is actually a scalar quantity.
Which means we only concern for the magnitude only.

Displacement is a vector quantity.
Which means it has both direction and magnitude.

Check out this video to see the explanation:

You will realize that this topic is also applicable for SPM Additional Maths as well.
